Cheap Casio keyboards
I love them. I've been spending a lot of time with them lately. Most of the sounds that I'll be using when I play in front of an audience in the increasingly-near future have been generated from these: some pushed and pulled around to the point at which they sound entirely different, others pretty faithful to their original state. When I think about all of this, I can't help but laugh. Oh, there's usually a shiver of anxiety as well.

Cheap casiotones are great. The first collaboration Prawnshocker and I ever did - the dubiously titled Lucozade Hash Pirates - used a lot of them to some effect or other, along with a plastic toy saxophone, a stylophone, a fretless bass (which had started out fretted until the Shocker decided to rid himself of the beastly things) and a set of 4 drum pads which basically played variations of 'thonk'.
The good old days...
Can't beat them, can you? I got my first one aged 11, then 14, 16, and various ages up to something like 34. I'm not even trainspottery about them either, they're just incredibly cheerful things and, no matter how sophisticated some of them might be, somehow they still revert to type in a marvellous way.
What's dubious about Lucozade Hash Pirates? Sounds great to me. I love all that shit, especially when it's barely-controlled chaos.
Sad person. Can't be there.
Thanks for dropping by.
Casio key's? I just don't know what to say...
Not much point telling you not to be anxious I guess but I sure would love to ehar you play and I am guessing there are loads of people who feel the same!
Yeah! hope we are all getting an invite!? :)
just remember one thing hon..... breathe!!!
pxx
It's no bad thing merk, honest :)
Hi innocent, nice to see you here. Yes, Casio keyboards. As mentioned above, I sort of grew up with them, before diversifying into guitar, bass and the like (not to mention dodgy drumming).
That's kind of you dj, thank you :)
neon, of course everyone's invited! I just might not tell anyone the date/venue/time....
Thanks pixie, I'm fine right now: remembering to breathe will no doubt become a serious problem in a couple of week's time though, so I'll remember those wise words.
Oh bloody hell, misplaced apostrophe...a couple of weeks' time.
*goes outside and waits to be shot*
I have a spare SK1 lying about if your are interested- the one that does 4 second samples then repeats them at different pitches up and down the keyboard :)
Thanks purple - I have one already though, the same one I've owned since *gulp* 1986: I'll be sure to give you a shout if it packs up though, always good to know that there are others out there :)
