Miracles

Yes, they do happen. One happened just yesterday in fact.

Late afternoon, I was walking home from work and I bumped into a friend of mine. We stood chatting for a couple of minutes, then he suggested we go for a pint. I was dubious about whether I wanted to, since I was looking forward to a quiet evening in, then he came out with the classic line "go on, just for one!"

How many times have you gone for "just the one" drink, only for it to turn into several, after which things start getting very hazy and then the following morning you wake up and think, oh shit, I really don't feel very good?

Guess what?

One solitary pint of beer later, I got another round in and that one was followed by another and we didn't fall out of the pub til midnight and threw up all over the pavement NO! we left the pub, I went home, and had the nice quiet evening that I'd originally planned for myself.

Like I said, sometimes miracles do happen.

A 'Trousers Carole', no less.

Sounds good lav, hope it turns out as good as it sounds :)

pants, I would say the same for myself: the fact that going for one pint and no more was noteworthy enough to blog about should tell you plenty really! I can do "not drinking at all" easily, but usually if I'm going to have a drink it won't be just the one.

Nice try zola, but back home I had a cup or two of green tea, and a pint of tap water. Not exactly the last days of Rome round these parts, or at least not on the night in question. Or for that matter, not anytime since the last days of Rome.

caroline thanks for popping by, and a very Merry Christmas to you too! I shall deftly sidestep the "mature" comment :)...

...and completely and utterly fail to respond to merkin with anything quite so witty as his own comment - nice one!

Right just the one then.....
Just one botle of beer
Just one bottle of red wine
Just one bottle of champagne....
Oh go on then I'll have another couple of glasses to keep you lot company.

But apart from that I won't have another drink!!!
