I've been tagged by prada pixie, which basically means I'm faced with the Herculean task of finding seven fascinating things about myself to post up here. I'm not sure what I think of tags, but I'll see how it goes. Trouble is, I've already written about one fascinating fact, ie my namesake. Never mind, I'll have to scrape around for more. For some reason I don't feel comfortable with tagging other people though - feel free to call me a spoilsport.

Here goes then:

1: I once had a competition with a friend to see who could last longest without washing their hair. My friend lasted a month. I managed 15 years. Should I be telling you this?

2: A few years ago I woke at 4 in the morning to find myself cycling round the small French village of Vias Plage. Well I was on holiday there, but was rather surprised to wake up at the wheel, as it were. I was also looking for some Belgians to check everything was ok with them. I found them, everything was indeed ok, though I wasn't even sure what language we were speaking. Nor, for that matter, was I sure why anything wouldn't be ok. As you might have surmised, I'd had a couple of drinks.

3. I'm a multi-instrumentalist and play sort of experimental-ish music in a band comprised of me and my best friend. Technically we have a recording contract with some bigwig in London but he vanished. Incidentally my drumming is incredible - by which I don't mean that its any good, if you see what I mean.

4. I've got a Master's Degree in Fine Art. Sadly its going to waste at the present time, something which I hope to change.

5. I've a tattoo of the logo of one of my favourite bands, Einstuerzende Neubauten, on my upper arm.

Update: a quick roll up of the sleeves and...here it is, by popular (ie more than one) request!

6. I'm left handed, was born in April and have a predisposition towards counting things. I was informed, reliably or otherwise, that these are common traits of people considered to be geniuses. Even if that were true (which I doubt, and am dubious about the whole concept of genius in the first place), there's always room for exceptions.

7. I have tinnitus, something which has affected me for nearly 15 years. When I was first diagnosed, I was terrified that within the space of several years it would be difficult to hear what people around me are saying, for example, on a night out . Well I've got to that stage and I have to admit, I'm quite happy about it.

Spike Milligan was a Genius too.

Tinnitus 15 years?.
No hair wash 15 years?.
Now, I understand everything.

Well lav, like I say, I'm unsure about genius as a concept. I'm definitely sure about my own lack of it :)

This doctor is onto something though.

No problem with light switches (though the occasional return to my back door to check its locked). I think the counting thing is more subtle though, more in the background.

Maybe I'll post a pic of the tattoo, but don't hold your breath just yet..

Nell! There you are! Nice of you to drop by!Since you're in blue, I can only presume you're now blogging? If that's the case, however, I can't click on your name to get to your site. Maybe change your settings or post a link?

Caroline, I'm still mulling that one over (posting a photo, not your fetish - or am I?). Maybe I will...

Nice to see you again, trousers. Real life got in the way for a while, but things are settling down a bit now, so I should be around more again.

I've been reading your older posts, too - great content, and great writing. More, please!

No idea why I'm in blue - perhaps because I have a Google email address? If I take up blogging, I'll be sure to let you know though :)

Thanks Nell, I really appreciate that.
Your explanation about the google address makes sense - I did think you'd set up your own blog...

Are you sure the tinnitus and the hair washing aren't linked? It would take a genius to know.

Hi Charlotte (of the web of the same name I presume?), thanks for stopping by.

Well you would have to take into account the fact that I got tinnitus 5 or 6 years after I stopped washing my hair.

I started washing my hair just over four years ago but the tinnitus hasn't abated. Is there such a thing as half-lives for tinnitus, or even dandruff?
Does dandruff get tinnitus? Does tinnitus get dandruff?

So many questions...no I'm definitely NOT a genius.

Yes - it is the Google address and it also means that the writer has not logged out of Gmail when posting.
Gmail has the 'everlasting cookie' which by default links to your blog.
I nearly got 'outed' one time and now am quite assiduous about logging out (I have 2 gmail accounts).
It's also another way that the mighty Google keeps tabs on us.

trousers !
could you not have tampered with the photo so that the tattoo was on your bum?
Oh..thinks............maybe it IS and you already did that..........

That tattoo actually reminds me of an ex-girlfriend.

Whoa. Nice.

Can I touch it?

Anonymous said...

Of course!

For a small fee.

Oooh, nice tattoo! Love the hair washing thing. Do you wash it now?

trousers said...

Thanks Ms M. Yes I do, I took up the habit again about four years ago. I had made an attempt a few years before that to start washing it again, but it just seemed a very weird thing to do.

How much?

I want a tattoo now too.

I am a little bit worried about exile, but also see a money making possible outlet.

I think that you should charge him to stroke you tatt!
