Oooh. Congratulations, housut, and many happy returns. I hope you don't mind getting the same card (under my name) I gave Signs a while back...

Oh thank you ms mr, I do appreciate that. And as someone commented on that particular piece, "there really isn't (sic) enough fritz lang movie scenes matched up with beatles music out there."

Hear hear! x

Happy belated birthday to The Trouser Press! A fine blog that, amazingly, continues to improves with age.

Thank you zola, kind sir! It wouldn't be the same if there were the right amount of socks now, would it?

Hi b-byrd, thank you too - I do admit to a certain amount of surprise that I've managed a year so far - have a glass of bubbly yourself as a best wish for your own blog x

Oh, and you're too kind dj, thank you!

I remember him when he wasn't even a full press; just a little nutcracker.

Well I did, with a musical partner, provide a rather harsh and intense live soundtrack to The Running Jumping and Standing Still Film ms mr - with surprisingly effective results. So I wouldn't rule such things out entirely...

Thanks merk - perhaps in it's infancy this site could have been called the Nutcracker Suite.

Ooops, missed you there neon - thanks for that, and who knows if I'll be able to keep this going for a couple more years! I'd like to think so, but I feel quite pleased at making it this far.

Dear trousers, happy birthday to this little press of yours, a damn fine blog indeed.

I wonder how many human years equals one blog year?

Anonymous said...

Oh, thank you bindi, that's very kind :)

I think the human/blog years ratio probably varies, according to...all sorts of things. Oh, and I forgot to compliment you, I think, on that damn fine photo of yourself that you posted up recently (the one at the party, I think).

That sounds good, housut - now show us the film, please...

(loved the surrealism return, by the way)

Unfortunately, dear ms mr, I don't have the documentary evidence, the only person present who planned to record it had a serious case of batteries running out....you'll have to take my word for it that, by many if not all accounts, it was an uncannily good performance.

I'm glad you noticed the response re surrealism: sometimes it's all a bit of a jigsaw puzzle...

Am I getting my wires crossed, or do I recall that you spent some time in Wales? I'm just about to spend a couple of days in the Gower peninsula xx

Anna MR said...

Oh, I think I may be late in wishing you a nice time in the Gower, housut - but I do. Yes, six years in Wales. Rwy'n siarad Cymraeg tamaid bach (and I never overlook a chance to show off with it, either).

And yes, I like it when it's a bit of a jigsaw puzzle, it's fun. I left you a similar "please note I noted your surrealist comeback" note at my house, too - now I wish I hadn't because it makes it all a bit obvious and not so fun. Damn. I should've come here to check first, but it was late.

I'll have to go away and think about a subtle (and surreal) way to correct that.

Hope you have/are having/had an excellent time in the Gower.

anna, I don't think I saw the note you left - I can't remember, my head's been full of other stuff over the last couple of days - so I didn't get the obviousness as it were :)

And yes, I've had a great time in the Gower, thank you (damn right you should show off your knowledge - I haven't a clue what it means, but I'm impressed) - I am thinking about what to write about it and may post later.
